Toby Tanser's coaching experience comes from listening to, training with, and living alongside such luminaries as Paul Tergat, Khalid Khannouchi, Lornah Kiplagat and Paula Radcliffe, and spending time on training camps listening to athletes coaches talk across the globe. He is a former sub-2:20 marathon runner (63-minute half marathon) and is coach to New York City's largest running team, the New York Flyers, as well as his own group, teams from charity organizations, and one-on-one clients. Tanser is the author of two books, the best selling Train Hard Win Easy the Kenyan Way, and The Essential Guide to Running the NYC Marathon. He is also a board member of the New York Road Runners and Achilles International, and regularly lectures on training as part of the ING NYC Marathon and other NYRR events. Tanser has worked closely with Kenyan runners for years, and is the founder of the charitable organization Shoe4Africa.
