THE SPORTS DIETITIAN: LESLIE J. BONCI

An avid runner herself, Bonci uses more than 15 years of experience with professional athletic teams to help our half-marathoners fuel their training.

Bonci serves as the sports dietitian for the Pittsburgh Steelers-a position she has held for the past 15 years-as well as the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Pirates the Riverhounds, The University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department, and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. She was the nutrition coach for the Pittsburgh Marathon for more than 10 years and has given lectures at the New York and Marine Corps marathons. She also worked with elite runner Tegla Loroupe. Bonci has served as the consulting nutritionist for the US Olympics Canoe and Kayak team and she continues to work as a consultant for the WNBA and the NCAA. Bonci, who has been a runner for 28 years, has completed nine marathons (all Pittsburgh) and currently runs five to six days a week/20 to 30 miles a week.
