Idaho welcomes The VikingMan Triathlon. This event is a half-ironman distance race consisting of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and a half marathon (13.1 miles) run. It is twice the distance of an Olympic sized triathlon. The swim is downstream in the current of the beautiful Snake River, the bike route tours through scenic mountain framed farmlands, takes a gradual yet thrilling plunge into the Snake River Gorge and ends with a challenging climb that will satisfy any biker¿s drive for exertion and exhilaration. The run course travels along scenic river trails, over a railroad trestle and through a wildlife preserve teaming with unique water-fowl. Seasoned athletes from the Pacific Northwest Region will compete on both individual and team levels. Excitement is building for this annual event to launch on June 2, 2007.
