This race is held in the mountains adjacent to the Appalachian Trail and in the George Washington National Forest. It starts and finishes in the Sherando Lake recreational area and runners enjoy spectacular views and experiences as they run on the trails. The 2006 event featured a beautiful snowfall and the opportunity to see the forest as it was covered in a blanket of winter beauty.
